Getting it done for Colwood.

Derek for Colwood Council
I'm running for Council because I believe we can navigate the challenges of a growing coastal community without losing what makes Colwood special. As our community grows and changes, the City of Colwood must work hard to set smart priorities to continue to deliver the essential services people rely on every day, while responsibly investing to make our community better. This balance can only be achieved if we stay connected to the people we serve, by listening and engaging to ensure decisions reflect real community needs.
I believe that people facing challenges are the ones with the clearest insights and solutions. I've always learned by listening to others and asking questions. I bring practical professional and volunteer experience and the perspective of a neighbour, a husband, and a father. I will do the work to serve my community and to contribute to making Colwood a great place to live for everyone.

Transportation
Parks & Public Land
Community Development
Bikes, buses, cars, trains and feet. We need to be a "Yes!" community for transportation infrastructure. We need to work to provide transportation options to safely and efficiently move all of us where we need to go.
We need to expand and improve parks and open spaces for people, and to protect wildlife corridors and natural areas. Acquiring parks and public land gets harder with time. The City needs to be proactive and creative to provide for the future.

Colwood has an amazing network of volunteers. The City does a lot to support this volunteerism but could do more! City Hall should be the first stop for people looking to provide opportunities for neighbours to connect and to improve our community.
